Lovely new books

More adoration for paperbackswap & bookmooch b/c I got THESE books from them:
  • Sexual Lives: A Reader on the Theories and Realities of Human Sexualities by Robert Heasley & Betsy Crane
  • Babymouse: Beach Babe by Jennifer L. Holm & Matthew Holm
  • Bumperboy and the Loud, Loud Mountain by Debbie Huey

Bumperboy and Babymouse are two of my absolute favorites. :) And I adore Robert and Betsy--I'm so glad to have their book! I've wanted it since they told me it came out. I knew them back at IUP. They were two of the people who kept me sane in that insane place.

Because I was in a book buying mood:

  • Once Upon a Time in the North by Philip Pullman
  • The Blue Girl by Charles de Lint

And from Borders super bargains:

  • Lucinda, Darkly by Sunny
  • Oh My Goth by Gena Showalter

I'm not sure if I want to read Lucinda, Darkly anymore. I read one of Sunny's stories in some anthology and didn't like it much. But...it was $2 in the bargain section at Borders. If I don't like it, I can swap it! :)

Piles of new books!

New books--Now in one convenient post!

I saved up my new books until I had a bunch so that I'm not posting every other day.

Paperbackswapped & bookmooched:
  • Boogiepop Doesn't Laugh #1 by Kouhei Kadono & Kouji Ogata
  • My Paranoid Next Door Neighbor by Kazuka Minami

Both probably destined to be sent back out to be swapped or mooched...

Found cheap at B&N and Borders:

  • Be More Chill by Ned Vizzini
  • To Serve and Submit by Susan Wright

These are actually on my to read list. Sweet!

  • Scouting for Girls: The Original 1920 Girl Scout Handbook by the Girl Scouts, Inc.
  • A Pound of Flesh by Susan Wright

Librarything has this new early reviewers program where you can request advance copies of books to read and review. It's pretty sweet. But there's huge lists for them every month. But I snagged one!

  • Gossip of the Starlings by Nina de Gramont

We'll see how it is. I'll post my review here, if I write one. I'm not so good with my thoughts, though...at least, getting them out coherently.

Stupid community manager!

When my packages don't fit in my tiny little mailbox, the postal person leaves them in my apartment office complex. Most of the time, my packages are books--either through Paperbackswap or Bookmooch, Manga Takeout, or now Bookswim. I can't tell you how irritated I get when they leave my packages in the office!! Know why? B/c I work two jobs and the community manager works bizarro hours now. The community manager USED to work on Saturdays, which was ideal, b/c no matter what happened during the week, I'd always be able to stop in on Saturdays. Not anymore. He doesn't work at all on the weekends, unless you make an appointment. And he works supposedly 12-8 two days a week. And he supposedly comes in at 9 am most other days.

Here's the deal. I got "package in the office" slip LAST Thursday. I immediately started cursing b/c I knew I had to be in to work early on Friday (recruiting, had to be in by 8 am) and I wouldn't be back until 9:30 pm since I work at the library on Fridays. Saturday, Sunday, out. So I stopped in on Monday morning, 9:15 am. He's not there. So I went on Tuesday, 11:30 am. He's not there. Both times, he was SUPPOSED to be there, according to his little door thingy. Tuesday--his car was there, but he wasn't. Wednesday was out because I had to go in early and I worked at the library. That left today. I was gonna be SO pissed if he wasn't there today. B/c I knew I couldn't get my packages tomorrow for the same reason as last Friday and then it's the weekend. I didn't do the shopping I needed to in order to make it back to my apartment complex in time to get my packages. Isn't that ridiculous?

I pay for Manga Takeout and Bookswim. So if my books sit there for a week, that's a week that I'm paying for and not getting any new books, hence not getting my money's worth. Thankfully, they were just Paperbackswap and Bookmooch books, but still! I waited a fucking week! Ridiculous. I HATE IT WHEN THEY LEAVE MY PACKAGES IN THE OFFICE!!!

I'm thinking of getting a PO Box. But first, I'm going to try to see if they'll leave my packages at the post office instead of the office. Believe it or not, I'll have more luck getting them in a timely manner there.

So...now that I'm done ranting...

Paperbackswapped & bookmooched:
  • The Fuchsia Is Now by J. Otto Seibold
  • Hands On! 33 More Things Every Girl Should Know edited by Suzanne Harper
