Quotes from "Skinny" by Ibi Kaslik

This was a rough book. Deep, I suppose, with such lovely words. Towards the end, it was a little abstract and I found it hard to understand, but that was also what was kind of lovely about it...and it fit right in with the story. It was about anorexia, but it was also about a woman's relationship with her father and about the relationship between two sisters. Interesting read! :)

But quotes that struck me...

"Holly doesn't know what it's like to love someone who doesn't care whether you live or die. She doesn't yet realize that love unreturned eventually transforms into a fierce tangled mess, nerves and entrails exposed like split animal innards. She doesn't understand that sometimes the unrequited must demand reparations, that love can be a mean and spiteful process, that sometimes one loses patience with love."

"Heart lesson #4: the unrequited heart.
You can't make anyone love you back."

"That's another terrible thing about love; once you've had it, you cannot go back to not having it."

It's kind of funny--I think you can read something about my mood by the quotes I pull out of books. :)
